8 Months Old

Hello Emilia!

It has been awhile since I have written to you. You are almost eight months old and so much has happened! On November 20th, just a week before your first Thanksgiving you got your first tooth! You had your first cold and you and I were holed up in the bedroom with a humidifier running and cartoons playing. You put my hand in your mouth and when you chomped down... YEOUCH! That little toofer had sprung in over night it seemed.

We spent the week before Thanksgiving in California with your Grandma Susie. She was getting ready to go on her first cruise to Mexico. We had a good time, as always. Papa had to work on Thanksgiving so you and I stayed home and hung out together. We had a great time! The neighbors upstairs had friends and family over and when Papa came home at 2:00 a.m. he had to tell them to keep it down as you were fast asleep, or at least trying to be.

After Thanksgiving marked the slow work month of December for Papa so off we headed back to California! Grandma had a great time on her cruise and we were there to help her after her knee surgery. We stayed for about three weeks which was a long time to spend together as a family! Papa had to come home to work for the Christmas holiday and we didn't want to miss him on Christmas so we came home too. We had a great Christmas! You were overwhelmed with all of the presents and it took you a good week to get through them all. Papa and I got you and Leap Frog Little Touch book. Grandma Susie, Nani Emily, and your Vega family got you some wonderful things, our car was STUFFED on the way home! They said that we could leave you there but no way!!

Papa also had to work on New Year's as it is the biggest holiday weekend here in Las Vegas. You and I watched the fireworks on TV. As we were celebrating I noticed your second tooth! What a great New Year's surprise!

Within the past few weeks you have taken to crawling. You have your own unique style where you twist your left knee out and up and then push off with your toes. Just yesterday you pulled yourself up on your knees at my yarn box and started pulling out yarn. You will be my young knitting Princess. Watching you discover more and more of your world on a daily basis is so wonderful! The best decision I ever made was to stay home and watch you grow.

I love you my Pinky Poo!

Tooth Fairy

The Tooth Fairy visited our house yesterday! For the past couple of weeks Emi has had a swollen nub under her gum on the left front side. Yesterday that pesky little tooth popped through!! So Emi was 6 months, one week and 5 days old when she got her first tooth!

Emilia gives the...

Fresh Food Feeder two thumbs WAY up!! The girl loves this thing. The Fresh Food Feeder looks like a big pacifier with mesh, you can put lots of different things into the mesh holder and baby can eat out of it without choking. Last night Emi tried it for the first time with a banana in it. OMG! She freaked out on it! If I pulled it away she yelled at me and when I wasn't paying attention because I was trying to get a picture I got yelled at!

Marcos isn't too thrilled about the Fresh Food Feeder! The sight of mushy bananas and spit kinda gross him out, hehe!

Trying to smile at me around the feeder

Squaking Bird!

Zoning out after getting really, really full

First Cold

Emi has her very first cold. It is just in her nose and boy oh boy are the boogers coming out! I think I jinxed myself, Brandy and Krista! I called the Dr. and she said as long as she doesn't have a fever and isn't too congested to just keep her indoors with a humidifer.

I had to use her bubble suctiony thing for the first time. She hated it!!

We spent all day Saturday locked in our room watching cartoon videos with the humidifier going. When Marcos came home he said the whole apartment was like a sauna!

Grandma England came over with some homeopathic peppermint oil and rubbed it on Emi's feet to make her feel better and it worked! She was up until about 5:00 a.m. on Sunday morning but that was because she got a little constipated. She is now about 90% congestion free!

Up Close and Personal

Emi has discovered that people look really silly when you get nose to nose with them! She will touch noses with you then pull away and laugh! Have to be careful, she isn't really gentle when she throws her head towards you!!

UGH! I just had a horrible mom moment! Emi and I fell asleep together on my bed. When I woke up I left her and surrounded her with pillows. I check on her periodically, she had woken up and pulled one of the pillows over her head. I couldn't hear her crying. OMG, it was horrible. I couldn't get her calmed down right away because I was crying so hard! Never, never again!!

Feeding the ducks!

Yesterday Marcos had the day off, it was beautiful out so we decided to go to the park down the street and feed the ducks at the pond.

Emi loved it!

She tried to help by grabbing the bread and getting it slobbery before throwing it to the ducks. She laughed at the honking noise the ducks make to let the others know that there is feeding going on.

Our Class!

Well Emi and I had what I thought was supposed to be a music class this morning. Actually it was a Piyo (Pilates and Yoga) class for moms and babies! Shows how well I pay attention when reading class descriptions!

I'm glad I didn't know what it was or I probably wouldn't have signed up for it. hehe. We learned how to use the babies as weights when working out.

Can't wait for next week!

Emi is 6 months old!

I can't believe it, today my little Emi is 6 months old. "Hello, my name is Gina and I have a six month old daughter." How cool is that!?!? And she is the coolest.

I have been reminiscing all day about different things that happened at different hours on her birthday. I can only imagine how bad I will be when she turns one!

Poor girl, today of all days her teeth have been bothering her pretty bad. I am remembering back to three months when I was just sure that she was going to be an early teether, no such thing! We haven't seen a tooth yet!

I went ahead with something I wasn't sure I wanted to do and I got Emi's ears pierced. They look really cute and so far no complications, she doesn't even notice them. In fact, when I had them done the only reason that she fussed was because I was holding her head down.

Last week we traveled to LA for Uncle T's wedding. It was a lot of fun to see Marcos' old friends. They once lived here in LV and then moved away, leaving us all alone! Marcos is so lucky to have great friends, they have all been friends for so long. He had a great time at the bachelor party and looked great in his tux as a groomsmen!

As we were leaving Marcos' mom put a box in our car. When I got home and opened it was stuffed with all kinds of beautiful yarn! I am sooo excited, it was the greatest present ever and I can't wait to start knitting with it.

Right now I am working on the Shape It! Scarf in a really pretty ribbon yarn. Ribbon yarn is not so much fun to work with! On the first ball I started it from the wrong end and had to constantly deal with tangles! The second and now the third ball are coming along pretty well.

Tomorrow Emi and I start our Groovin' babies and moms class. It should be fun!

I leave you with some recent Emi pictures. My little one is growing.

"What's that?!?!"

"Lemme See!"

Momma, do you think Papa will share his coffee?"
